Job Requirements

  • Enrolled in college or hold a BA/BS degree preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in DJing and music production
  • Experience teaching or leading music activities
  • Experience working with youth in afterschool programs or community settings preferred
  • Proficiency with music production software
  • Knowledge of diverse musical styles and cultures
  • Ability to implement positive behavior supports and restorative practices
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Organized and adaptable
  • Regular attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform physical tasks like kneeling and reaching
  • Ability to wear safety equipment as needed

Job Qualifications

  • Enrolled in college or hold a BA/BS degree preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in DJing and music production
  • Strong skills in selecting, mixing, and transitioning songs across diverse genres
  • Solid understanding of DJ techniques, equipment, and music software
  • Subject matter competency and practical experience in teaching or leading music activities
  • Experience working with youth in afterschool or community settings highly desirable
  • Proficiency with music production software such as Serato, Ableton, GarageBand, or FL Studio
  • Knowledge of diverse musical styles, cultures, and histories with cultural sensitivity
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to build supportive relationships
  • Organized, adaptable, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates PUC’s core values
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Job Duties

  • Teach students the fundamentals of DJing and music production using industry software
  • Introduce key music concepts including rhythm, tempo, layering, and music composition
  • Guide students in safely setting up and caring for DJ and sound equipment
  • Teach principles of music copyright, sampling, and ethics in production
  • Plan engaging lessons culminating in student performances or projects
  • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment fostering creativity and collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and community partners
