Job Requirements
- Enrolled in college or hold a BA/BS degree preferred
- demonstrated expertise in DJing and music production
- solid understanding of DJ techniques, equipment, and music software
- subject matter competency paired with practical teaching or leadership experience
- experience working with youth in afterschool programs or community settings preferred
- proficiency with music production software and equipment
- knowledge of diverse musical styles and cultures
- effective communication skills
- ability to build supportive relationships
- ability to establish positive learning environments
- organized and adaptable
- bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required
- regular attendance and punctuality essential
Job Qualifications

- solid understanding of DJ techniques, equipment, and music software
- subject matter competency combined with practical teaching or leadership experience in music activities
- experience working with youth in afterschool programs, camps, schools, or community settings highly desirable
- proficiency with music production software and equipment such as Serato, Ableton, GarageBand, FL Studio
- knowledge of diverse musical styles, cultures, and histories with sensitivity to ability differences
- effective communication skills to explain music concepts, creative techniques, and equipment use
- talent for building supportive relationships that inspire creativity and teamwork
- ability to establish clear expectations and a positive learning environment
- organized, adaptable, and able to problem-solve in dynamic settings
- demonstrates PUC's core values

Job Duties
- Teach students the fundamentals of DJing, beat-matching, scratching, and music production using industry software
- introduce key concepts such as rhythm, tempo, layering, and music composition incorporating culturally responsive practices
- guide students in safely setting up, using, and caring for DJ and sound equipment and teach principles of music copyright, sampling, and ethics
- plan engaging lessons building toward culminating projects or performances and connect students with guest DJs or community music opportunities
- prepare lesson plans or project outlines for substitute coverage and collaborate with school leadership to ensure alignment with mission and goals
- create and maintain a safe, inclusive, structured learning environment that nurtures creativity and collaboration
- build strong, positive relationships with students fostering confidence, teamwork, and artistic risk-taking
- communicate effectively and consistently with all stakeholders and keep families informed about student participation and progress
- continuously build knowledge of music production and DJ technology and bring innovative practices into the program
- attend professional development sessions and apply new learning
- participate in school-based meetings and contribute to a positive school culture
