Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience as a pharmacy technician
  • State Certified Pharmacy Tech with the SC Board of Pharmacy
  • Knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology
  • Knowledge of SCBOP, DHEC, DEA rules and regulations
  • Good mathematical and computer skills
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and in team settings
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
  • Data entry skills

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Perform all technician functions specific to assigned pharmacy area
  • Conduct hazardous compounding during scheduled shifts
  • Interpret and prepare medication orders including filling provider orders and managing automated dispensing cabinets
  • Handle controlled substances in compliance with regulations
  • Demonstrate proficiency with pharmacy-related computer and automation technologies
  • Manage inventory systems and contribute to financial operations
  • Serve as shift or site lead at applicable acute care sites
  • Provide excellent customer service including answering phones promptly and maintaining orderly work areas
  • Participate in training and mentorship of new pharmacy staff
  • Create patient profiles using multiple software systems
  • Conduct benefits investigations for specialty prescriptions
  • Assist pharmacists with prior authorizations and appeals
  • Clarify orders with pharmacists or providers as necessary
  • Coordinate specialty medication fills and deliveries
  • Educate patients and caregivers about specialty pharmacy services
  • Document patient progress in various software platforms
  • Follow up with office practices and patients to ensure medication receipt
  • Order and maintain medication inventory
  • Comply with medication concierge program policies
  • Develop pharmacy-driven programs to assess medication barriers prior to discharge
  • Refine discharge medication assessment opportunities
  • Aid in auditing and compliance of the 340B program
  • Act as liaison between 340B program leadership and site leadership
  • Support system and automation roles within the pharmacy
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement projects
  • Adhere to regulatory guidelines for pharmacy compounding
  • Contribute to pharmacy enterprise activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
