Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Current licensed or certified in the state assigned: EMT-Paramedic
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years clinical or hospital setting experience
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including completion of a recognized nursing program with state requirements
- Current state licensure or certification such as EMT-Paramedic
- CPR and AED certification
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience
Job Duties
- Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, and blood testing
- Manage and evaluate donor reactions per standard operating procedures
- Follow medical emergency protocols including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care
- Refer medical or technical issues to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs including donor safety and eligibility concerns
- Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
- Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further occupational health evaluation
- Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations of pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs
