Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Current licensed or certified in the state assigned: EMT-Paramedic
  • Current CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years clinical or hospital setting experience

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent including completion of a recognized nursing program with state requirements
  • Current state licensure or certification such as EMT-Paramedic
  • CPR and AED certification
  • Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Minimum two years clinical or hospital experience

Job Duties

  • Determine donor eligibility including management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, and blood testing
  • Manage and evaluate donor reactions per standard operating procedures
  • Follow medical emergency protocols including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care
  • Refer medical or technical issues to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs including donor safety and eligibility concerns
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further occupational health evaluation
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations of pandemic threats as directed by EHS or Medical Affairs
