Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Entry level to three years experience in an infusion/admixture area or pharmacy
- Ability to perform manual tasks requiring dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Ability to read and note appropriate measurements accurately
- Capacity to lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs
- Willingness to work standing or sitting for extended periods
- Corrected vision and hearing within normal range
- Ability to handle exposure to medicinal and chemotherapeutic agents safely
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Entry level to three years experience in infusion/admixture area or pharmacy
- Knowledge of medication preparation and compounding techniques
- Ability to perform precise calculations related to dosage volumes
- Familiarity with pharmacy safety protocols including OSHA guidelines
- Competent in maintaining accurate inventory and record keeping
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with pharmacists and healthcare team
- Ability to adhere to strict protocols in a regulated environment
Job Duties
- Assist with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a pharmacist
- Check all orders for completeness of information including patient information and physician authorization
- Admix drugs as ordered by physician accurately and timely as per department and OSHA guidelines
- Calculate correct dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary equivalents
- Assist in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain records
- Properly dispose of materials used in mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs
- Assist in cleaning hoods daily and checking drugs monthly for outdates and quality assurance
- Maintain accurate temperature and protocol drug logs
- Maintain proper control documentation including lot numbers
- Support inventory control, prepare labels, file and prepare billing, perform basic data entry, order medication and supplies as directed
- Assist with cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and pharmacy department to minimize particle counts and improve sanitation
