Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Entry level to three years experience in an infusion/admixture area or pharmacy
- Ability to follow detailed instructions under supervision
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Willingness to work in a clinical environment with exposure to chemotherapeutic agents
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs occasionally
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Ability to sit/stand for extended periods
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Entry level to three years experience in an infusion/admixture area or pharmacy
- Knowledge of technical pharmacy procedures
- Ability to accurately calculate dosages
- Familiarity with OSHA guidelines and safety protocols
- Experience in medication record keeping and inventory control
- Competency in basic data entry and billing preparation
Job Duties
- Assist with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a pharmacist
- Check all orders for completeness of information
- Verify patient information and proper physician authorization
- Admix drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines
- Calculate correct dosage volumes converting between metric and apothecary equivalents
- Assist in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain records
- Dispose all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs properly
- Assist in cleaning hoods daily and check drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities
- Keep accurate temperature logs and accurate logs on all protocol and patient assistance drugs
- Maintain proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers
- Provide support with inventory control of medications and prepare labels
- File and prepare billing
- Basic data entry into department automation
- Order medication and supplies as directed
- Assist with required cleaning and maintenance of the admix area and pharmacy department
