Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- entry level to three years experience in an infusion or admixture area or pharmacy
- ability to perform manual and finger dexterity tasks
- ability to lift and carry items up to 40 lbs
- corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- capability to sit or stand for extensive periods
- willingness to work safely around toxic substances and chemotherapeutic agents
- ability to follow strict safety and sanitation guidelines

Job Duties
- assist with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under supervision of a pharmacist
- check all orders for completeness of information and verify patient information and proper physician authorization
- admix drugs as ordered by physicians in an accurate and timely manner adhering to department and OSHA guidelines
- calculate correct dosage volumes including converting between metric and apothecary equivalents
- assist in counting controlled drugs weekly and maintain proper records
- properly dispose of materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs
- assist in cleaning hoods daily and perform quality assurance activities including checking drugs for outdates
- maintain accurate temperature logs and documentation on all protocol and patient assistance drugs
- provide support with inventory control, prepare labels, file and prepare billing, enter data into department automation, and order medications and supplies as directed
- assist with cleaning and maintenance of the admixture area and pharmacy department to minimize particle counts and improve sanitation
