Job Description

White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) in New Mexico is a renowned military testing area and home to various support services essential to the personnel and their families stationed there. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old at time of appointment
  • direct deposit and social security card required
  • completion of employment verification (E-Verify)
  • meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements including Child Care Tier 1 background investigation and AR 215-3 standards
  • current health assessment documenting good mental and physical health, immunizations including annual influenza vaccinations
  • successful completion of annual training requirements
  • may have irregular hours including evenings and weekends
  • travel to on and off post locations may be required
  • one-year probationary period may be required

Job Qualifications

  • Experience working in an office setting demonstrating administrative and clerical skills, customer service concepts, and communication techniques
  • experience using office automation to prepare documents, manage files, and maintain records
  • proficiency with applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • experience managing filing systems, attendance records, and official correspondence
  • demonstrated knowledge of grammatical and composition techniques for accurate written materials
  • proficiency in computer applications including database management
  • at least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level NF-02
  • experience utilizing automated systems for childcare operations is highly preferred

Job Duties

  • Receive children, youth, parents, and visitors courteously and professionally
  • answer telephones and direct callers appropriately
  • ensure proper signing in of parents, children, youth, and visitors
  • monitor children's departure and ensure authorized removal only
  • register and terminate children/youth in the CYS program and waiting list database
  • utilize Child and Youth Management System (CYMS) for data entry and tracking
  • provide administrative support including mail preparation, copying, distribution, correspondence, memorandums, briefings, and daily activity reports
  • articulate policies regarding fees, waiting lists, enrollments, terminations, and event coordination
  • coordinate vacancies and reservations for hourly care programs
