Job Requirements
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in urban planning, land development, or related field at an accredited college or university
- ability to perform complex administrative support functions
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- proficiency in operating office equipment and software
- ability to respond effectively to public inquiries and complaints
- ability to work approximately 20 hours per week
- ability to perform assigned duties in the event of a City declared emergency
Job Qualifications
- Equivalent to graduation from high school
- enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in urban planning, land development, or related field at an accredited college or university
- two years of related experience preferred
- knowledge of principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
- knowledge of English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation
- knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations
- ability to perform complex administrative support functions
- ability to use independent judgment and personal initiative
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Job Duties
- Provide responsible and complex administrative support to an assigned department head
- assist with prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
- support assigned department director by performing routine administrative functions
- type and proofread a wide variety of reports, letters, memoranda and statistical charts
- independently compose correspondence related to assigned responsibilities
- send out notices related to departmental projects
- screen office and telephone callers
- provide front counter assistance including providing information
- respond to and resolve complaints and requests for information on regulations, procedures, systems and precedents
- attend a variety of meetings
- disseminate information as appropriate
- interpret applicable laws, rules and ordinances affecting department and City operations
- operate a variety of office equipment including copiers, facsimile machines and computer
- input and retrieve data and text
- organize and maintain disk storage and filing
- design and prepare flyers and pamphlets for special events as assigned
- respond and perform assigned duties in the event of a City declared emergency
