Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one year of clerical or customer service experience
  • Excellent customer service skills including professionalism and patience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn and accurately explain departmental policies
  • Proven multitasking capabilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of records

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Receive and respond to public questions and complaints through phone and in-person interactions
  • Provide customer service by informing and educating the public on departmental policies and procedures
  • Enter complaints into record systems and assign for follow-up
  • Assist the public and agencies with information on environmental health regulations including permits and ordinance requirements
  • Review and process applications, plans, fees, and documentation for accuracy
  • Generate receipts and assist with monetary balancing and reporting
  • Facilitate permitting processes for food, lodging, tattoo, septic, and swimming pool facilities
  • Assemble and provide inspection reports and documents for public records requests
  • Maintain and update electronic and hard copy filing systems related to environmental and public health records
  • Process mail and departmental correspondence
  • Support outreach distribution and special departmental projects
  • Perform other assigned clerical duties including overtime as necessary
