Job Requirements
- doctoral degree preferred or master’s degree in mathematics or related subfield
- at least 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics content or secondary teaching certification in mathematics
- ability to teach college algebra effectively
- experience working with high school students preferred
- strong organizational and coordination skills
- ability to work collaboratively with school staff
- commitment to student-focused instruction
Job Qualifications
- doctoral degree in mathematics, engineering, physics, or statistics preferred
- master’s degree in mathematics or an acceptable subfield with at least 18 graduate semester hours in mathematics content
- master’s degree in education with secondary teaching certification (grades 6-12) in mathematics
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- experience teaching college-level or high school mathematics preferred
- commitment to student-first teaching philosophy
Job Duties
- teach college algebra to high school students as part of the Running Start program at Lapeer Community Schools STEM program
- coordinate with high school staff to schedule class times at Lapeer Tech Center
- deliver engaging and effective instruction tailored to the needs of motivated high school students
- support student success by fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment
- serve as a role model and brand ambassador for Baker College on and off campus
- adhere to Baker College’s Student-First philosophy and promote student engagement
- participate in professional development and collaborate with faculty and staff
