Job Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts
  • Ten years of industry experience in high volume or fine dining venues
  • At least five years supervisory experience as a working chef or pastry chef
  • Certification or eligibility as a Certified Executive Chef or Certified Executive Pastry Chef
  • Proficiency with instructional technologies
  • Demonstrated dedication to education and student success
  • Strong knowledge of classical and contemporary culinary methods
  • Excellent communication, math, and writing abilities
  • Professional culinary or baking production skills
  • Energetic people skills
  • Active community involvement
  • Capability to teach both theoretical and practical courses
  • Ability to foster effective and culturally aware working relationships
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion core values

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts from a nationally recognized culinary school
  • Certified or certifiable as a Certified Executive Chef or Certified Executive Pastry Chef per ACF guidelines
  • Expertise in instructional technologies
  • Commitment to teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of classical and contemporary cooking and/or baking and pastry
  • Excellent communication, math, and writing skills
  • Professional skills in cooking, food production, or baking and pastry
  • Enthusiastic and energetic interpersonal skills
  • Competency to instruct in theoretical and practical settings
  • Ability to maintain cooperative and culturally competent working relationships

Job Duties

  • Teach assigned course(s) focusing on professional culinary techniques, methods and terminology
  • Maintain thorough practical and theoretical knowledge by pursuing professional development and industry feedback
  • Utilize effective teaching methods to engage a diverse student population
  • Collaborate with instructors and college services on placements, curriculum and academic support
  • Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning
  • Teach online and/or blended courses when required
  • Attend departmental meetings and recruitment activities
  • Teach classes during evenings, weekends, and at branch campuses as needed
  • Maintain rapport with multicultural students and faculty
  • Promote the Culinary Arts Management Program through industry and community engagement
  • Participate with students in culinary competitions and related extracurricular activities
  • Fulfill contractual obligations as per adjunct faculty contract
