Job Description

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field and two years of full-time related professional experience or associate degree in any field and six years of full-time related professional experience
- sensitivity and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
- comply with LACCD Board of Trustee’s COVID-19 vaccination policy
- submit a letter of interest, current resume, contact info for three professional references, and transcripts from accredited institutions
- provide verification of experience via company letterhead
- ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- personal characteristics necessary for successful teaching including judgment, leadership, stability, and teamwork
- willingness to collaborate with diverse communities
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field with two years of full-time related professional experience or associate degree with six years of full-time related professional experience
- sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
- American Culinary Federation Certification of Certified Working Pastry Chef or higher (desirable)
- ServeSafe Manager’s Certification or equivalent (desirable)
- effective oral and written communication skills
- teaching or training experience in industry or higher education (desirable)
- personal characteristics necessary for successful teaching in a community college environment, including judgment, leadership qualities, emotional stability, teamwork, and educational perspective
Job Duties
- Teach a range of courses within the baking and patisserie discipline
- promote engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning
- be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds
- collaborate professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators
- prepare teaching materials and course outlines
- mentor and support diverse student populations
- participate in college meetings and departmental activities as needed
