Job Requirements

Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain
Endorsements Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) as required
Ability to pass medical examination

Job Duties

Transport students in a timely manner to and from school and/or school activities while following safety procedures and applicable State Board of Education rules and regulations
Operate and safely drive a school bus in various weather, road and traffic conditions
Communicate bus rules, safety and behavior requirements to passengers and address improper behavior
Communicate with students' parents to resolve inappropriate or unsafe behavior
Assist students boarding and unloading the bus, including those with wheelchairs and adaptive equipment
Inspect buses daily for deficiencies and perform routine maintenance such as fluid and fuel level checks and tire pressure inspections
Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort
Comply with federal, state, and district rules and traffic regulations related to school bus operation
Comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements
Complete all records and reports timely and accurately
Read maps and follow route or trip logs
Operate two-way radio
Maintain cleanliness of the bus
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
