Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in recreation therapy, gerontology, or a related field
- certified Activity Director (ADC) or eligibility for certification through the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP) or equivalent
- minimum of 2 years of experience in activity planning in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred
- experience working with veterans strongly preferred
- excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- ability to lead diverse groups and adapt activities to meet residents’ cognitive and physical limitations

Job Duties
- Develop and implement a monthly activities calendar that includes a variety of therapeutic and recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and cultural backgrounds
- assess the individual activity needs and preferences of each resident upon admission and update care plans regularly
- organize and lead group and one-on-one activities such as music therapy, crafts, games, exercise, religious services, educational programs, and special events
- coordinate with volunteers, community groups, and entertainers to enhance programming
- maintain documentation of all resident participation and progress in accordance with regulatory standards
- collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, dietary, social services) to support overall resident care plans
- manage the activities budget, inventory, and ordering of supplies
- ensure compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., CMS, DCH) regarding resident activities in a long-term care setting
- supervise and train activity assistants and volunteers
- foster a warm, welcoming environment that promotes dignity, respect, and a sense of purpose for all residents
