Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in recreation management, exercise science, public administration or related field preferred
  • Current fitness industry standards and certifications
  • Must possess and maintain CPR/First Aid training and certification(s)
  • Five or more years related work experience in recreation, event organization, and marketing or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must possess valid driver's license and reliable commute
  • Must be proficient in English language both spoken and written
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for events
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to demonstrate fitness activities
  • Must be able to travel to event sites for on-site coordination
  • Ability to supervise part-time staff and volunteers
  • Knowledge of ADA compliance and inclusive recreation practices
  • Familiarity with public health regulations related to fitness and events

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Current fitness industry certifications such as ACE, NASM, or ACSM
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in recreation, event organization, or marketing
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in budget development and event promotion
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Job Duties

  • Plan and organize community events blending music, performing arts, and cultural celebrations
  • Initiate and manage projects related to community and special events
  • Develop and monitor budgets and solicit event sponsorships
  • Plan, develop, schedule, and supervise recreation programs and fitness activities
  • Provide leadership to ensure safety and compliance of programs
  • Promote and evaluate special events and community activities
  • Coordinate scheduling and maintenance of fitness programs and city facilities
  • Develop promotional materials and maintain event calendars
  • Recruit participants, performers, and volunteers
  • Manage service contracts and supply orders
  • Oversee setup, coordination, and breakdown of events including evenings and weekends
  • Provide community presentations and represent the City at events
  • Maintain accounting records and prepare operational reports
  • Perform general office duties and support customer service
  • Enforce confidentiality and monitor compliance with policies
  • Organize wellness and outdoor recreation events
  • Collaborate on cultural recreation initiatives
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
