Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of experience in a long-term care facility preferred
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about working with seniors
  • frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling
  • ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching
  • regular interaction with residents, staff, and visitors in a moderate noise environment

Job Duties

  • Participate in planning and conducting individual, small, and large group activities
  • assist in maintaining communication among residents, families, staff, and the community to ensure residents' needs and interests are met
  • participate in community planning related to resident services and family engagement
  • assist in developing the monthly activity calendar and maintaining attendance records
  • support the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in implementing corrective action plans as needed
  • participate in discharge planning and the development of activity care plans and resident assessments
  • help arrange transportation for resident outings, appointments, and discharges
  • assist in developing and facilitating a variety of activities including resident outings, group programs, and in-room visits for residents unable to attend group events
  • encourage residents to participate in hobbies, crafts, and reading activities
  • provide necessary materials and resources including Braille or audio materials as appropriate
  • assist with documentation and quarterly progress notes as directed by the Activity Director
  • maintain the cleanliness, organization, and security of the Activity Department
