Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must have the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
- Must be knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensure compliance with facility privacy practices policies and procedures
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
- Must be willing to handle residents based on their current maturity level
- Must have the ability to seek new methods and be willing to incorporate them into existing policies and procedures
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition
- Must participate in continuing education and inservice training
Job Qualifications
- Possess a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and residents
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to plan, organize, and develop recreational activities
- Prior experience in recreational or healthcare settings is a plus but not mandatory
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new methods
- Ability to maintain patience, tact, and enthusiasm when working with residents
- Knowledge of privacy rules and facility policies
Job Duties
- Help coordinate and run events and activities programming
- Build relationships with residents and learn about their interests to tailor programming to their desires
- Organize group and individual programming
- Generate ideas that will excite and encourage residents to participate in programming
- Encourage residents to take part in activities that will stimulate his/her potential, physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually
- Assist with and follow through on the establishment of resident care goals within the framework of the entire therapeutic team
- Document and report any unusual or significant findings
- Report all reportable events immediately
