Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when warranted
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must possess tact in dealing with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the public
- Must be knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and comply with facility privacy policies and procedures
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
- Must be able to relate information concerning resident conditions
- Ability to seek out and incorporate new methods into existing policies
- Must participate in continuing education and inservice training
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year experience in an Activities Department in a hospital, skilled nursing care facility or related medical facility preferred
- Ability to work independently and make decisions when necessary
- Effective communication skills including reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
- Patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm
- Willingness to handle residents at varying maturity levels
- Knowledgeable in privacy practices and policies
- Participation in continuing education and inservice training
Job Duties
- Assist in plans and provisions of patient care by visiting residents regularly to evaluate needs
- Document and report to the nursing department any unusual or significant findings
- Report all reportable events immediately in accordance with policy
- Encourage residents to take part in activities of daily living that stimulate physical, mental, social, and spiritual potential
- Spend duty time with residents rather than with other facility staff
- Assist with and follow through on the establishment of resident care goals within the framework of the entire therapeutic team
