Job Requirements

  • Minimum six years related progressive experience in hotel accounting or related field
  • Proficiency in Windows and hotel-specific software applications
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

Job Qualifications

  • At least six years of progressive experience in hotel accounting or related field or a four-year college degree with an accounting/finance concentration and minimum two years progressive experience or a two-year college degree with minimum four years progressive experience
  • Proficient in Windows, company approved spreadsheets, word processing, and hotel-specific systems
  • Maintain warm and friendly demeanor
  • Effective verbal and written communication with employees and guests
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills
  • Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings
  • Participate in management on duty coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance per company standards
  • High standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
  • Comply with company standards and regulations for safe hotel operations
  • Identify problems and implement solutions
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information from multiple sources
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Job Duties

  • Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues including preparation of monthly financial statements for the property
  • Monitor hotel revenues and expenses ensuring accurate recording according to company guidelines
  • Create annual budgets and perform monthly variance analysis with practical improvements
  • Ensure hotel compliance on all regulatory licenses, permits, leases, contracts, legal agreements, and taxation
  • Analyze financial data and operations to advise management in maintaining financial objectives
  • Comply with standard accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls for finance operations
  • Review and approve all balance sheet accounts including bank and general ledger reconciliations
  • Establish and audit internal financial controls covering purchasing, cash handling, disbursements, inventories, assets, payroll, and employee records
  • Coordinate and successfully complete all internal and external financial audits including liaison with CPA firms
  • Hire, train, supervise, and develop accounting staff including coaching and discipline
  • Maintain compliance with company standards to ensure safe and efficient hotel operations
  • Prepare financial reports adhering to company requirements meeting deadlines
  • Provide regular reports including weekly A/R and A/P aging, flash reports, payroll, revenue updates
  • Deliver monthly financial statements, forecasting, key statistics, and cash flow reports
  • Develop annual budgets, five-year plans, and capital plans
  • Interact timely with executive committee members to ensure property operations are on track
  • Monitor compliance with report deadlines and ensure accurate hotel daily operating reports
  • Execute special projects and responsibilities as assigned
