Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
- ability to work with customers and stay attentive to their needs
- knowledge of company food safety and sanitation standards
- ability to perform department specific duties including baking deli prepared foods
- physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs and safely handle materials within specific department guidelines
- completion of company orientation and mandatory training
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to operate relevant computer systems and equipment

Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products
- assists them with selections
- prepares packages and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices packages labels rotates and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas as needed
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department and store operating procedures
- records production and shrink to aid in production planning in bakery
- assists in baking frying and decorating in bakery
- culls bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
- takes care of service counter customers in deli
- uses ordering system applications in deli
- uses fresh production planner in deli
- performs inventory management processes in deli
- ensures catering orders are prepared and ready in time for customer pickup
- performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
- serves and packages products at customers request in prepared foods
- educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- prepackages condiments for prepared food items
- cuts slices dices chops food in preparation for chef
