Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum six months experience in patient concierge or similar role
  • Completion of annual contribution in hospital activities
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Compliance with Act 34 clearance
  • Demonstrated compassion and customer service orientation
  • Physical ability to perform duties including transport and environmental tasks
  • Basic computer skills for electronic records and communication

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months experience as a Patient & Family Concierge or equivalent
  • Demonstrated competency in Patient & Family Concierge responsibilities
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Participation in hospital or department committees or projects preferred
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures
  • Experience with electronic health records and administrative tasks
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and hospitality
  • Ability to adapt to changing hospital needs

Job Duties

  • Greet patients and families warmly and provide direction and escort assistance
  • Disseminate patient information while respecting confidentiality
  • Serve as a reference for visiting hours and hospital policies
  • Issue courtesy parking discounts and patient scooters
  • Assist with parking cashier functions and validate patient parking
  • Clean and organize assigned areas including patient rooms and public spaces
  • Replenish supplies and change bed linens following procedures
  • Assemble and serve meals according to diet orders and food safety standards
  • Deliver patient meal trays and other nourishments
  • Transport patients, equipment, and lab specimens safely between designated areas
  • Perform inspections and disinfect transportation equipment
  • Order and deliver unit-specific supplies and equipment
  • Organize supply rooms and monitor inventory and expiration dates
  • Complete administrative functions including coordination of tests and procedures
  • Respond to telephone calls and provide courteous service
  • Manage patient charts and electronic health records
  • Maintain communication of physician orders and update bed boards
  • Conduct unit audits and monitor noise levels
  • Assist in telehealth consult coordination and equipment management
  • Exhibit UPMC values and service key behaviors consistently
