Job Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
- must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- must meet citizenship requirements
Job Qualifications
- Interest in cooking
- knowledge of home economics
- basic understanding of health and nutrition
- proficiency in mathematics and accounting
- familiarity with chemistry principles related to food preparation
- ability to follow standardized recipes and dietary guidelines
- strong communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam, and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes
- operate, maintain, and clean field kitchen equipment
- perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
- plan and prepare menus and meals for varied group sizes
- ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met
- order and manage food and supply inventory
- store meats, poultry, and other perishable items properly
