Job Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Interest in cooking, home economics, health, mathematics, accounting and chemistry
  • Ability to follow recipes and military procedures
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Good physical condition to meet Army requirements

Job Duties

  • Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and saute as prescribed by Army recipes
  • Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
  • Plan and prep menus based on nutritional needs
  • Ensure food safety and facility sanitation
  • Order and manage food and supplies
  • Store meats, poultry and other perishable items properly
