Job Requirements
- Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
- Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
- Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
- Must meet citizenship requirements
Job Qualifications
- Interest in cooking, home economics, health, mathematics, accounting and chemistry
- Ability to learn and follow military recipes and dietary guidelines
- Capable of operating and maintaining kitchen equipment
- Ability to work effectively in both field and fixed facility environments
- Strong attention to food safety and hygiene standards
- Capable of working as part of a disciplined military team
Job Duties
- Bake, fry, braise, boil, simmer, steam and saute as prescribed by Army recipes
- Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
- Plan and prepare menus according to dietary requirements
- Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met
- Order and manage food and supplies inventory
- Store perishable items such as meats and poultry properly
