Job Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of Army Basic Training
  • Completion of Advanced Individual Training for Food Service Specialist
  • Interest in cooking and nutrition
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes and safety protocols
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Bake,fry,braise,boil,simmer,steam and sauté as prescribed by Army recipes
  • Operate, maintain and clean field kitchen equipment
  • Perform preventive maintenance on garrison and field kitchen equipment
  • Plan and prepare menus according to dietary requirements
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met
  • Manage food and supply ordering
  • Store meats, poultry and perishable items properly
