Job Description

The Custodial Maintenance Worker position at Jackson County specifically focuses on the upkeep and janitorial care of the Rogue Valley International-Medford Airport facilities. This role is part of a larger custodial team responsible for performing a wide variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure that all airport facilities are clean, safe, and welcoming for passengers, staff, and tenants. Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must pass a criminal background check prior to hire
  • Must submit an acceptable DMV certified court print prior to hire
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen including screening for Marijuana
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, swing shifts, nights, weekends and some holidays
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting and carrying heavy objects
  • Must pass an in-depth background check and security threat assessment
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality required
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and with exposure to cleaning chemicals and hazards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of custodial experience
  • One year additional experience involving heavy public contact
  • Ability to operate power cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, chemicals, and solvents
  • Ability to follow established safety and sanitation procedures
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Ability to keep detailed and accurate records

Job Duties

  • Dusts, cleans and polishes furniture, doors, windows, partitions, woodwork and other related surfaces
  • Cleans light fixtures, replaces filters, washes windows, and changes lamps
  • Sweeps, mops, vacuums, scrubs, waxes, polishes floors, and shampoos carpets
  • Disposes of trash and recyclable materials
  • Operates power cleaning equipment such as buffer, sweeper, and steam cleaning equipment
  • Trains custodial staff on applicable work practices, equipment usage and safety training
  • Monitors supplies and stocks locations and maintains inventory
  • Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and fixtures
  • Performs some limited routine maintenance to equipment, buildings, and fixtures
  • Identifies possible breaches of regulations and/or procedures and responds as directed
  • Adheres to regulatory requirements, collective bargaining agreements, County and departmental policies and procedures, required trainings, as well as safe work practices
  • Develops and maintains effective internal and external working relationships at all levels
  • Has regular and reliable attendance and may work a variety of shifts and schedules, including nights, holidays and weekends
