Job Requirements
- bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
- possess at least two years of related college education, an associate degree, or qualify as a Highly Qualified paraprofessional
- ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods
- capacity to lift and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- ability to communicate clearly in English and Spanish both verbally and in writing
- commitment to district confidentiality and safety policies
- ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
- ability to use instructional and office technology
- willingness to participate in training and professional development
- adhere to drug-free workplace requirements
Job Qualifications
- at least two years of related college education or an associate degree
- meet the Highly Qualified paraprofessional requirements by passing the Paraprofessional Assessment Exam with a score of 455 or higher
- fluency in English and Spanish both written and verbal
- ability to read, understand, and carry out oral and written instructions in both languages
- knowledge of instructional methods and procedures
- ability to use audio-visual and office equipment
- effective communication skills with diverse cultural groups
- ability to maintain confidentiality
- ability to rapidly learn various instructional methods and materials
- competency in record keeping and reporting student progress
- ability to train and supervise student helpers
- adherence to district policies including drug-free workplace and safety practices
Job Duties
- assist with the preparation of instructional materials using duplicating or audiovisual equipment and resource materials
- read, write and speak fluently in English and Spanish
- communicate effectively with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures in English and Spanish
- assist students in understanding instructional concepts by reinforcing teacher-directed activities in English and Spanish
- implement lesson plans under the supervision of teachers in English and/or Spanish
- assist with correction of student work in either language
- keep records and charts of student progress
- supervise students inside and outside the classroom including recess and lunch periods
- maintain classroom discipline to contribute to student effectiveness
- collect and account for monies received
- assist with clerical duties such as filing, sorting, data collection, and organizing materials
- participate in meetings to improve skills and share information
- fulfill other related duties as assigned
- adhere to performance standards during evaluation processes
