Job Requirements
- Bilingual Spanish/English
- Ability to stand for up to 30 consecutive minutes and walk for prolonged periods
- Ability to lift or maneuver materials up to 50 pounds
- Ability to read, understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- Ability to learn to operate telephones, computers and other equipment
- Ability to use English in written and verbal form with correct grammar and spelling
- Abide by confidentiality requirements
- Adhere to district policies including drug-free workplace and handling bodily fluid spills

Job Qualifications
- At least two years of related college education or an AA degree
- Meet Highly Qualified requirements by passing the Paraprofessional Assessment Exam with a score of 455 or higher
- Knowledge of teaching methods and procedures
- Knowledge of record-keeping systems
- Ability to operate audio-visual equipment and office machines
- Understanding of instructional materials and their uses
- Familiarity with student behavior management methods
- Awareness of safety practices
Job Duties
- Assist with the preparation of instructional materials by using duplicating or AV equipment and resource materials
- Assist students in understanding instructional concepts by reemphasizing basic elements of teacher-directed activities
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans
- Assist with the correction of student work
- Keep records and charts of student progress
- Assist with the general supervision of students both inside and outside the classroom
- Contribute to student effectiveness by maintaining classroom discipline
