Job Requirements
- High school degree or G.E.D.
- must be 21+ years old
- valid driver’s license preferred
- daily use of a car on site preferred but not required
- available by telephone for daily contact
- maintain First Aid, CPR, MAP and PABC certifications
- complete agency orientation
- obtain and maintain Applied Non-Violence certification
- ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays and emergencies

- ability to advocate and establish rapport with disabled individuals, families, co-workers and service providers
- completion of required agency orientation
- maintain certifications such as First Aid, CPR, MAP and PABC
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- possess caregiving skills for both ambulatory and non-ambulatory individuals
- knowledge of behavioral management techniques
- strong communication and documentation skills
- ability to follow individual support plans and behavioral plans
Job Duties
- Monitor individuals for health and safety
- safely evacuate individuals from residence in the event of fire or disaster
- physically assist individuals in transfer and carries
- physically escort or restrain individuals during emergencies or behavioral episodes
- assist individuals with bathing and personal hygiene tasks
- educate and supervise individual self-medication programs
- train individuals in goals specified in ISP and behavior plans
- assist with scheduling and transportation to medical appointments
- educate and assist with meal preparation and food shopping
- support individuals with finances, banking, and record keeping
- provide supervision during community outings including places of worship
- maintain records and daily documentation
- perform daily housekeeping and cleaning tasks
- assume responsibility for cleaning common areas during overnight shifts
- assist with morning routines if working overnight asleep shifts
- write and assess individual program plans
- work flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and emergencies
- implement agency policies and maintain confidentiality
- coordinate leisure time planning
- provide emergency coverage including overnight
- perform individual advocacy
- support persons served during end-of-life care
- remain on duty if not relieved
- attend weekly staff meetings (mandatory training for part-time)
