Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Alaska driver’s license
- Submission of Alaska Food Worker card upon hire
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
- Ability to push and pull objects with a force of 22 ft-lbs
- Computer literacy for input and reporting tasks
- Physical ability to perform job duties including walking, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching and grasping tools
- Previous experience in cashiering or meal preparation preferred
- Compliance with post-offer medical and physical evaluations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous cashiering or meal preparatory experience of three to six months
- Knowledge of basic food service safety and sanitation
- Familiarity with National School Lunch Program regulations
- Basic computer input and math skills
- Ability to follow established procedures for food service and cashiering
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Job Duties
- Assembles and prepares equipment required for daily food service to students and teachers
- Preheats ovens, readies shake machines, obtains necessary funds for registers, prepares disinfectant wash water and cleans counters and tables
- Schedules and secures student and adult helpers and arranges substitutes as necessary
- Monitors student lunch sales and maintains confidentiality of student meal status
- Performs cashiering functions to ensure efficient serving line operation
- Prepares daily serving and cashiering reports, including production records and bank deposit summaries
- Calculates and requisitions food, cleaning and paper supplies using IFAS
- Cleans, sanitizes and dismantles the serving line
- properly stores leftover food according to regulations
- Performs basic custodial functions such as sweeping, mopping, and trash removal
- Prepares bank deposit for pick up
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with coworkers and school staff
- Acts as a lead server/cashier to give direction to others when assigned
- May perform additional related Nutrition Services tasks as delegated
