Job Requirements

  • Equivalent to a high school education or GED
  • ability to read, write, and communicate
  • ability to understand simple directions and basic mathematical concepts
  • physical ability to stand, walk, and lift items up to 50 pounds
  • ability to work safely around kitchen equipment
  • possess or obtain an Oregon Food Handler's Permit
  • willingness to undergo minimal on-the-job training
  • willingness to attend food service workshops
  • adherence to drug-free workplace policy

Job Qualifications

  • Equivalent to a high school education or GED
  • ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
  • ability to understand simple directions and basic mathematical concepts
  • possess or obtain an Oregon Food Handler's Permit or maintain current ServSafe certification
  • ability to operate kitchen equipment
  • ability to supervise student helpers
  • ability to read, understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • ability to accurately transfer, record and convey information, materials, and money
  • willingness to attend regularly scheduled food service workshops
  • adherence to district drug-free workplace requirements

Job Duties

  • Performs routine food preparation duties
  • serves food
  • may need to process free and reduced applications
  • performs cleaning and dish washing and other general duties in a kitchen or serving area
  • may transport food to other school locations
  • collects money and operates Meal software
  • sells ala carte and snack bar items
  • may assist with the opening and closing of the kitchen prior to the beginning and after the ending of each school year
  • assists in the cleaning and storing of equipment and food supplies
  • assists in the process of assuring an adequate supply of food items
  • maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the assigned operational area
  • supervises student helpers
  • maintains necessary records
  • fulfills other related duties as assigned
  • fulfills performance standards identified in the evaluation process as required by the position
  • fulfills working conditions and physical effort listed below
