Job Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- Five years of experience in security related public safety or customer service
- Security Officer Healthcare Certification to be obtained within two years
- NIMS certification
- Valid driver's license
- Firearm Owners Identification Card or Concealed Carry Weapon license as applicable
- Must meet state licensing requirements including Firearm Control Card within 90 days
- Stop the Bleed Certification within one year
- Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon use within 90 days
- Pass background check and drug screen
- Ability to sit stand walk and lift up to 35 lbs
- Good vision or correctable to 20/20
- Able to handle exposure to hazards and emotionally charged situations
- Must be physically fit to walk facility and restrain patients
- Illinois team members must complete 20-hour Basic Security Officer course
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED
- Typically requires 5 years of experience in security public safety or customer service including responding to emergent situations
- Security Officer Healthcare Certification (CHSO) required within two years
- NIMS compliance certification
- Licensed or able to obtain firearms-related licenses as required by state
- Certified in Conducted Energy Weapon use within 90 days of hire
- Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques and emergency response practices
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with computer use for documentation
- Strong emotional intelligence and compassionate responses
- Demonstrated ability to assess dangerous situations and take appropriate action
Job Duties
- Provides security services with a customer-service approach focusing on professionalism fairness and compassion
- Inspires confidence in patients visitors and team members by presenting a professional approachable and service-oriented appearance and demeanor
- Provides front line shift leadership for Public Safety Officer 1 and 2 routine and emergency responsibilities
- Prevents responds to and investigates workplace violence and emergency situations
- Serves as a primary resource for de-escalation utilizing use of force when necessary including conducted electrical weapon and handcuffing
- Provides a secure and safe work environment by monitoring officer compliance with policies procedures and processes and schedules staff
- Investigates incidents on Advocate property and completes timely and accurate reports while liaising with law enforcement and other departments
