Job Requirements

  • Minimum age 21
  • degree in culinary arts, nutrition, home economics preferred
  • 2+ years of related experience or experience in sales, product demonstrations, or cooking in a professional environment
  • completion or ability to complete H-E-B Wine selling certification
  • completion or ability to complete TABC certification
  • ability to stand, reach at waist, and grasp constantly
  • ability to occasionally sit, walk, reach overhead, shoulder, knee, floor, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, climb stairs and ladders, pivot, twist, push/pull with arms, pinch, perform fine motor movements
  • ability to occasionally be exposed to cold and hot temperatures, loud noise, wet conditions
  • ability to lift 60 lbs and manage more than 60 lbs with assistance

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in culinary arts, nutrition, or home economics preferred
  • 2+ years of related experience in food and cooking or professional sales and demonstrations
  • completion or ability to complete H-E-B Wine selling certification
  • completion or ability to complete TABC certification
  • comprehensive knowledge of displayed products
  • advanced communication skills
  • strong customer service and hospitality skills
  • merchandising skills
  • proficiency in basic cooking techniques (grill, sauté, roast, fry)
  • ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
  • ability to manage multiple priorities and work flexible hours

Job Duties

  • Perform selling activation events in the Cooking Connection kitchen
  • assist in the development of recipes targeted to local Customer base
  • engage Customers by sharing knowledge of ingredients, cooking techniques, and beverage pairings
  • follow customer service and hospitality models to connect with Customers and build loyalty
  • conduct cooking demonstrations and food prep methods to maximize Customer interactions
  • serve as an expert on daily recipes and answer culinary questions
  • suggest alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage pairings
  • develop and maintain relationships by recalling dietary needs and preferences
  • ensure A+ merchandising standards including stocking conditions and cleanliness
  • assist in building and maintaining merchandising displays
  • ensure proper signage for daily menu and sampling hours
  • comply with food safety regulations and complete required trainings
  • maintain a clean, healthy, and safe work environment
  • prep products for demonstrations and production using mise-en-place
  • use proper personal protection equipment
  • support Cooking classes, Wine education, and Dinner Series execution when applicable
