Job Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- 3+ years' experience in a camp or industrial kitchen setting required
- Cleared to drive YMCA vehicles with a clean MVR
- Completion of CPR/AED, Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention, Staff Orientation
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in outdoor and indoor activities
Job Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age

- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred

- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings
Job Duties
- Directs and supervises camp food services to meet the needs of the camp community through high quality, healthy meals and snacks, complying with all Association, state, and county standards
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies
- Trains, supervises, schedules, and directs the Assistant Kitchen Director and Kitchen Specialists
- Reviews and evaluates staff performance
- Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals
- Evaluates effectiveness of employed personnel seasonally
- observes individual performances and appraises their effectiveness
- Works with the Overnight Camp Director and Community Engagement & Registrar Director to coordinate camper enrollment, schedules, and programming as they relate to food service
- Assists with Colorado state licensing and inspections, health inspections, ACA preparation and visitation
- Maintains a clean kitchen environment and accurate inventory
- Orders all food products through our food providers consistent with enrollment numbers and oversees all deliveries
- Ensures dietary needs are met for all campers and staff members
- Manages and implements the approved budget for food service and takes appropriate action to correct variances
- Maintains an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants, and the community
- Attends staff meetings with other members of the camp team as needed
- Maintains regular and timely communications with supervisor and other Y camp employees
- Maintaining confidentiality of YMCA issues and records
- Maintaining friendly, professional relationships with staff, participants, and community members
- Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques with natural consequences
- Required to attend and complete staff meetings, trainings, and all mandatory licensing required trainings
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
- Attends required abuse risk management training
- Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
- Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
- Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements
- Other job duties as assigned
