Job Requirements

  • must be 21 years of age or older
  • valid CPAT certificate at time of application
  • possess or be able to obtain a Colorado driver's license by hire date
  • maintain acceptable driving record
  • pass pre-employment background check, criminal history review, physical, fitness/wellness assessment, medical evaluation, drug screen and psychological exam
  • commitment to a 5-year term of continuous employment as paramedic/firefighter
  • attach all required valid certifications and documents with application
  • include complete work history of last 10 years in application
  • name all required documents appropriately
  • applicants must not have used marijuana within the previous 12 months from contingent offer regardless of legal status

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • current Colorado state paramedic certification (for Colorado residents)
  • current ACLS certification
  • current BLS certification
  • current national registry paramedic certification (for out-of-state residents)
  • minimum 3 years of paid paramedic experience within last 12 months for experienced applicants
  • valid CPAT certificate
  • ability to obtain Colorado driver's license by hire date
  • acceptable driving record
  • physical fitness for the demands of the job
  • ability to pass background check, drug screen and psychological evaluation

Job Duties

  • perform paramedic, firefighting, emergency medical and rescue work in emergency situations
  • provide advanced and basic life support care under approved protocols and statutes
  • ensure EMT personnel deliver basic life support under oversight
  • maintain apparatus, vehicles, equipment and fire stations
  • respond to emergency medical, firefighting and rescue situations
  • operate under both direct and limited supervision
  • participate in continuous training and professional development
