Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid CPAT certificate at application time
  • Colorado driver's license by hire date
  • Acceptable driving record as per SMFR policy
  • Pass background check, criminal history review, physical, fitness/wellness assessment, medical evaluation, drug screen, and psychological exam
  • Commitment to a 5-year continuous employment term
  • No marijuana use in the 12 months prior to contingent offer
  • Submit all required certifications and documents with application
  • Complete work and education history accurately
  • Explain any employment gaps

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Current Colorado State Paramedic Certification for residents
  • Current ACLS certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current National Registry Paramedic Certification for out-of-state residents
  • At least 3 years of paid paramedic experience for experienced pay eligibility
  • Possess valid CPAT certificate
  • Ability to pass medical, physical, psychological, and drug screening evaluations

Job Duties

  • Perform advanced and basic life support care under approved protocols
  • Provide emergency firefighting and rescue services
  • Maintain apparatus, vehicles, equipment, and fire stations
  • Oversee basic life support provided by EMT personnel
  • Participate in continuous training and professional development
  • Respond to emergency medical, firefighting, and rescue calls
  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards
