Job Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Four years of supervisory experience in food preparation in a school cafeteria, restaurant, or food service environment
- Minnesota Department of Health Food Manager's Certification within three months of appointment
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations
- Ability to handle sales and prepare cash reports
- Ability to ensure kitchen cleanliness and sanitation
- Reliable attendance
- Ability to work with various cleaning products
- Pass background checks and provide references
Job Qualifications
- Two year degree in culinary arts, dietetics, or related field or two years of college course work in nutrition or related field
- Two years of experience supervising food preparation in school cafeteria, restaurant, or food service environment
- Minnesota Department of Health Food Manager's Certification within three months of appointment
- Working knowledge of food safety and nutrition basics
- Ability to prepare foods for serving
- Ability to operate and maintain kitchen equipment
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks
- Strong interpersonal skills to deal courteously with patrons
- Ability to plan, direct, and evaluate the work of others
Job Duties
- Directs and supervises the work of many employees in multiple locations
- Coordinates the preparation and serving of a wide variety of school lunch and breakfast items to meet diverse dietary needs and preferences
- Ensures food is prepared as required and checks quality, tastefulness, neatness, arrangement, and portion sizes
- Orders food supplies from vendors and production kitchens
- Inspects merchandise received to ensure accuracy
- Responds to routine catering requests and ensures accurate and timely order fulfillment
- Prepares bank deposits and related financial reports
- Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and personnel
- Operates kitchen equipment as required
