Job Requirements
- Two year degree in culinary arts, dietetics or related field or two years of college coursework in nutrition or related field and two years of supervisory experience in food preparation or high school diploma or GED and four years of supervisory experience in food preparation
- Minnesota Department of Health Food Manager's Certification required within three months of appointment
- reliable attendance
- ability to work part-time 24 hours per week
- ability to perform duties unaided or with reasonable accommodation
- willingness to handle cleaning products
- ability to pass criminal background check
- submit transcripts within 30 days if post-secondary education completed
- submit DD214 for veteran's preference if applicable
Job Qualifications
- Two year degree in culinary arts, dietetics or a related field

- alternatively, high school diploma or GED and four years of supervisory experience in food preparation
- ability to make arithmetic computations
- knowledge of food safety and nutrition
- ability to prepare and serve foods
- experience using institutional kitchen equipment
- skills in handling cash and preparing reports
- ability to coordinate multiple tasks under tight time limits
- strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Job Duties
- Directs and supervises the work of many employees in multiple locations
- coordinates the preparation and serving of a wide variety of school lunch and breakfast items to meet dietary needs and preferences
- ensures that food is prepared as required and checks quality, taste, neatness, arrangement, and portion size
- orders food supplies from many vendors and production kitchen
- inspects merchandise received to ensure quantities are correct
- responds to routine catering requests and ensures orders are timely and accurate
- prepares bank deposits, acts as cashier when necessary
- ensures cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment and personnel
- operates kitchen equipment as required
