Job Description

The Transportation Department plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient transport of students to and from schools and district-related activities. Job Requirements

  • must be twenty-one years old
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • three years secretarial or clerical experience in a multi-departmental or complex organization
  • ability to perform multiple tasks during peak hours
  • ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • ability to work flexible schedules
  • must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and private automobile
  • must pass post-offer/pre-employment background check
  • ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds
  • may require some evening or weekend work and travel
  • ability to interact with leaders and staff inside and outside the department
  • may need to drive bus routes if licensed

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • three years secretarial or clerical experience in a complex organization
  • experience in bookkeeping, receptionist work, and data input
  • preferred experience in dispatching or transportation operations
  • preferred class b new mexico cdl with p and s endorsements
  • preferred two years post high school training with additional related experience
  • bilingual in english and spanish is preferred
  • excellent communication and customer service skills
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to use microsoft office and google suites
  • knowledge of general accounting principles
  • ability to manage databases
  • good written and verbal communication abilities
  • effective multitasking skills
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • assists in diverse administrative activities for transportation leadership
  • collects and processes payroll data
  • establishes FTE hours and layover time for routes and drivers
  • schedules and coordinates meetings, events, and appointments
  • prepares statistical and narrative reports
  • manages mail and correspondence
  • requisitions supplies and services
  • maintains purchase orders and invoices
  • conducts weekly meetings with drivers
  • researches and compiles data for reports
  • provides staff and operational support
  • assists with dispatching and answers phones
  • monitors route coverage and employee call-ins
  • inputs transportation requests into district data systems
  • coordinates extra trips with district staff and stakeholders
  • may drive bus routes
  • performs related duties as assigned
