Job Requirements
- High school graduate
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, peers, administrators, and community members
- Oral and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing classroom situations and needs
- Ability to multitask
- Knowledge and implementation of effective strategies to model and promote language and social development
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood
- Ability to help children self-regulate and negotiate during conflict
- Commitment to continuous education and learning
- Knowledge of word processing, database, and technology
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Previous student tutoring or mentoring experience preferred
- Experience in community-based academic support program preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, families, peers, administrators, and community members
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing classroom situations
- Ability to multitask
Job Duties
- Develop and implement developmentally appropriate early childhood instruction
- Serve as a model in developing students' language and behavior
- Support a classroom environment conducive to learning by managing appropriate student behavior
- Support the teachers in the observational assessments required for documentation of student's progress
- Assist in the management/redirection of students who may exhibit challenging behaviors
- Monitor children's activities in classrooms and school grounds
- Assist in caring for student needs including feeding, cleaning, diapering, and clothing changes
- Assist with custodial skills of students including lifting, positioning, and adaptive equipment maintenance
- Perform other duties as assigned
