Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene
  • Must be able to read and follow simple instructions
  • Must possess ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
  • Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision
  • Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects
  • Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
  • Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic understanding of food preparation and serving techniques
  • Ability to interact politely and considerately with residents and team members
  • Knowledge of proper food storage and labeling
  • Ability to follow confidentiality policies
  • Ability to attend in-services and staff meetings
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all dining room and kitchen responsibilities and procedures
  • Understand basic kitchen equipment operation including food processors, dishwashers, and beverage machines
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas in the kitchen, serving area, and dining room
  • Assist residents when placing orders from the menu
  • Provide beverage service including water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee or tea
  • Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls prior to and after each meal
  • Report any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
  • Understand sit-down service and proper serving techniques
  • Have a basic understanding of food preparation such as salads and desserts
  • Maintain knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining room areas
  • Attend required in-services and staff meetings
  • Complete all other duties assigned
  • Be attentive to the special needs of residents including mobility deficits and memory impairment
  • Assist with tray service
  • Follow confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information
  • Interact in a polite and considerate manner to residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors
