Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ability to obtain and maintain Kalispel Tribal Work Permit
  • Washington State Food Handlers Card required within 14 days of hire
  • hepatitis A vaccination required
  • availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to lift and move objects over 80 pounds
  • willingness to comply with company policies
  • drug testing and background investigation consent
  • physical capability to meet job demands
  • good oral communication and auditory discrimination skills
  • ability to perform repetitive wrist and hand movements
  • ability to stand or sit for extended periods
  • ability to ascend/descend stairs and ramps
  • ability to maintain vision requirements including color and close vision

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or general education degree preferred
  • one year related experience or training preferred
  • experience as prep cook in fast-paced environment helpful
  • skill in problem identification and resolution under pressure
  • ability to understand mathematical concepts related to food
  • strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • knowledge of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety and hygiene
  • ability to maintain effective working relationships
  • ability to perform tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
  • ability to read and follow cooking directions
  • ability to remain calm in fast-paced environments
  • organized and self-motivated
  • effective verbal and written communication skills

Job Duties

  • ensure compliance with regulatory and company policies
  • prepare ingredients ahead of schedule according to prep sheet
  • ensure kitchen equipment and appliances are ready for use
  • perform portion control and minimize waste
  • measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • bake, roast, broil, steam various foods
  • carve and portion food according to specifications
  • wash, peel, cut and shred vegetables and fruits
  • butcher chickens, fish, and shellfish
  • cut, trim, and bone meat prior to cooking
  • bake bread, rolls, pastries, and desserts
  • perform additional tasks assigned by sous-chef or head chef
  • maintain clean and hygienic work environment
  • comply with sanitary and personal hygiene standards
  • follow FDA food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • maintain consistent attendance record
  • serve as panelist for internal review hearings if required
