Job Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Work Permit
- Valid health card or Serve Safe equivalent
- Hepatitis A vaccination
- Available and willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing over 80 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements
- Ability to stand, walk, and occasionally sit for sustained periods
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ramps
- Ability to stoop and crouch occasionally
- Must comply with drug testing policies
- Must pass background investigation
- Must maintain a consistent attendance record
Job Qualifications
- Preferred high school diploma or GED
- One year of related experience and/or training preferred
- Experience as a prep cook in a fast-paced environment helpful
- Skill in identifying and resolving problems under pressure
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts related to food
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
- Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety, and hygiene
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all organization levels and the public
- Ability to perform tasks accurately, quickly, and with attention to detail
- Ability to read and follow cooking directions
- Ability to stay calm in fast-paced environments
- Must be organized and self-motivated
- Skill in verbal and written communication
- Employment contingent upon favorable background investigation outcome
Job Duties
- Ensures compliance with Kalispel Tribe and KGCC policies and Washington State regulations
- Prepares ingredients ahead of schedule according to prep sheet
- Ensures kitchen equipment and appliances are ready for use
- Performs portion control and minimizes waste to maintain cost efficiency
- Measures and mixes ingredients for soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and appetizers
- Bakes, roasts, broils, steams meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods
- Carves meats and portions food following plate specifications
- Washes, peels, cuts, and shreds vegetables and fruits for use
- Butchers chickens, fish, and shellfish
- Cuts, trims, and bones meat prior to cooking
- Bakes bread, rolls, pastries, and desserts
- Performs additional tasks assigned by Sous-Chef or Head Chef
- Maintains a clean and hygienic work environment and kitchen equipment
- Complies with sanitary, health, and personal hygiene standards
- Follows all FDA food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Available to work variable hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Maintains consistent good attendance record
- May participate as panelist for Internal Review Hearings
- Performs other duties as assigned
