Job Requirements

  • Must have some experience in the production of quantity foods
  • possess current Food Handler's Card from Ohio County Health Department
  • ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • pass the approved West Virginia Service Personnel Tests for School Cook unless currently classified
  • evidence of ability to adhere to federal, state, and local laws and policies
  • clear background check
  • outstanding attendance and punctuality record
  • any combination of training and experience leading to successful employment as a cook
  • willing to work a flexible schedule
  • ability to handle medium-heavy work capacity

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies
  • maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and cafeteria with daily cleaning and sanitizing and heavy cleaning when applicable
  • use effectively all kitchen equipment
  • operate the POS after training
  • assist with determining food quantities to be prepared daily
  • prepare and serve food according to planned menus and proper serving sizes
  • report faulty or inferior quality food to Cafeteria Manager or Child Nutrition Office
  • participate in staff development training
  • demonstrate interest in the school and welfare of children
  • lift food containers and equipment
  • assist Light Truck Driver with loading or unloading
  • assist in maintaining inventory
  • work in various temperatures including freezers and near hot cooking equipment
  • maintain positive work habits
  • perform duties efficiently and productively
  • maintain and upgrade required skills
  • establish effective working relationships
  • perform other duties as assigned by Principal, Child Nutrition Administrator, and Cafeteria Manager
