Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 2 years experience in healthcare or medical billing office
- knowledge of medical terminology
- experience with insurance verification and pre-authorizations
- proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- strong communication skills
- ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA
- Spanish language skills preferred
- reliable attendance and punctuality
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- medical assistant certification preferred
- minimum of 2 years experience in healthcare or medical billing office
- understanding of medical terminology
- experience verifying insurance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- experience obtaining pre-authorizations and referrals from insurance carriers
- intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- fluent written and verbal communication skills
- Spanish speaking strongly preferred
Job Duties
- Greet patients and family members with a positive attitude
- screen patients for infection, fever, NPO status, insurance status, and verify transportation post procedure at check in
- coordinate patient scheduling and communication of activities with dialysis units and family members
- maintain patient charts
- handle physician correspondence
- answer telephones
- manage patient flow
- direct delivery to building
- establish and review patient schedules, check for cancellations and add-on patients
- pull patient charts and records as appropriate
- ensure timely interventional encounters are scheduled in the appropriate venue
- perform administrative support activities such as correspondence, filing, faxing, mailing
- monitor, maintain, and order office supplies and equipment
- act as intermediary for physicians and referring facilities, ensure procedure results and reports are forwarded
- ensure referral and medical record information is available prior to patient admission
- schedule dialysis treatments and transportation if needed
- maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- work overtime as needed
- work in other centers as needed
- attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed
- follow teammate guidelines, policies, and procedures
- consistent, regular, punctual attendance
