Zuul is a New York-based company specializing in the ghost kitchen model, providing a network of delivery-only smart kitchens that enable restaurants and virtual brands to expand their delivery operations without the overhead of traditional brick-and-mortar establishments.

Founded in 2018, Zuul offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to streamline the food delivery process. Their platform includes scalable, plug-and-play kitchen infrastructure, onsite operational support, and a proprietary digital marketplace to support demand generation.

This approach allows restaurant partners to focus on food preparation and customer service while Zuul manages the logistics and technology aspects of delivery.

In addition to its physical kitchen facilities, Zuul has developed ZuulOS, an operating system that enables operators to create virtual food halls and manage multi-brand orders efficiently. This technology has been particularly beneficial for restaurant groups looking to diversify their offerings and reach new customer segments.

For example, Aurify Brands, the parent company of Five Guys and The Little Beet, has utilized ZuulOS to bundle multiple brands into a single delivery experience, thereby increasing revenue from a single location.

Acquisition and Funding

In October 2021, Zuul was acquired by Kitchen United, a leader in the ghost kitchen industry. This acquisition allowed Kitchen United to enter the New York City market and integrate Zuul's technology and operations into its platform, further enhancing its position in the growing off-premise dining sector.

Prior to the acquisition, Zuul had secured $9 million in funding to expand its operations across New York City, aiming to serve both residential and commercial customers through its network of delivery-only kitchens.
