About Warren, Washington & Albany ARC (WWAARC) a chapter of The Arc New York
Warren, Washington & Albany Counties ARC (WWAARC), a chapter of The Arc New York, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Warren, Washington, and Albany Counties in upstate New York. Established over 65 years ago, WWAARC has a longstanding tradition of providing exceptional advocacy, family support, and high-quality services to nearly 1,000 individuals.
Residential Services
WWAARC operates a comprehensive array of residential services, including 34 residences and 30 Supported Living Program (SLP) apartments. These residences vary in size from apartments to two-story and ranch-style houses, designed to provide a cozy, home-like setting.
The goal is to maximize individual growth and independence based on strengths, interests, and abilities, fostering a true home environment with a focus on skill development.
Day Programs and Community Employment
The organization offers four-day programs and a Community Employment program, aiming to enhance the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities. These programs focus on skill development, social integration, and providing meaningful community engagement opportunities.
Respite Center
WWAARC operates a free-standing Respite Center, the only one between Albany and the Canadian border. This center offers temporary relief for families and caregivers, providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Family Support and Advocacy
The organization is committed to supporting families through various services, including family support programs, guardianship services, and fiscal intermediary services. These services empower families to manage and direct care for their loved ones, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.
