Vigilante Coffee

Vigilante Coffee Company is a specialty coffee roaster and café chain dedicated to providing high-quality, ethically sourced coffee to its customers. Founded in 2012 by Chris Vigilante, the company began its journey in Washington, D.C. Chris developed a passion for coffee while working as a barista in Honolulu, Hawaii. This experience led him to appreciate coffee from seed to cup and inspired him to pursue his dream of owning a roastery and café.

Starting with a small 5-pound roaster in his basement, Vigilante Coffee initially sold beans at local farmers markets and pop-up shops. In 2014, the company opened its first permanent location in Hyattsville, Maryland, offering a café and roastery experience. This expansion allowed Vigilante Coffee to focus on delivering an authentic customer experience, emphasizing transparency, world-class service, and exceptional coffees.

The company continued to grow, opening a second café near the University of Maryland in College Park in 2018. In 2022, Vigilante Coffee expanded to the West Coast with a roastery and café in Oceanside, California, becoming one of the few American coffee roasting companies to operate on both coasts.

Vigilante Coffee offers a diverse range of coffee beans sourced from around the world, including regions like Colombia, Ethiopia, and Costa Rica. Their offerings include single-origin coffees, blends, and limited-edition releases, all roasted in-house to highlight the unique properties of each bean. Customers can purchase these products online or at their physical locations.

In addition to coffee, Vigilante Coffee provides a variety of menu items such as pour-overs, flat whites, cappuccinos, acai bowls, pastries, and snacks. The company is committed to sustainability and community engagement, donating 1% of all sales to organizations and causes they support.
