United States Army Installation Management Command

The United States Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) is a pivotal support formation within the U.S. Army, dedicated to the comprehensive management of Army installations worldwide. Established on October 24, 2006, IMCOM's primary mission is to deliver quality base support, thereby enhancing the readiness and well-being of Soldiers, their families, and Army civilians.

The command provides quality facilities, services, and support to Soldiers, their families, Army civilians, and Soldiers for Life.

Core Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Management: Ensuring facilities and structures are in optimal condition to house and train Soldiers.
• Soldier and Family Services: Providing support programs that enhance the quality of life for Soldiers and their families.
• Warfighter Readiness and Deployability: Preparing Soldiers to fight and win the nation's wars.
• Base Operations Services: Integrating services such as fire, police, housing, and child care to support Army communities.

Global Presence

IMCOM manages 184 Army installations globally, with a staff of approximately 120,000 military, civilian, and contract members across seven regions on four continents.

This extensive network ensures that Soldiers and their families receive consistent and high-quality support, regardless of their location.

Recent Initiatives

In April 2022, IMCOM collaborated with a construction firm to build 3D-printed barracks at Fort Bliss in West Texas. These barracks, each spanning over 5,700 square feet, are among the largest 3D-printed structures in the Western Hemisphere.

This initiative aims to demonstrate the efficiency of 3D printing in constructing energy-efficient, resilient buildings swiftly and cost-effectively compared to traditional methods.

Headquarters and Regional Offices

IMCOM's headquarters is located at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. The command is organized into several directorates and regions, each responsible for managing installations in specific geographic areas.

For example, the Installation Management Command Southeast Region (IMCOM-SE) is located at Fort McPherson in Georgia and manages Army installations in the southeastern United States and Puerto Rico.
